WHOLE AGAINST THE SKY - Nouveau Riche - Linda

Author Paul Donnelly
Honolulu, Hawaii

MONOLOGUE DESCRIPTION

Time: Contemporary

Situation: WHOLE AGAINST THE SKY explores the misapprehensions and misunderstandings that can undermine connections between spouses and within families.  In this particular moment, Linda is riding a high with her bi-polar husband and attempting to put aside the memories and the lessons of his harrowing lows.

Subject Matter: Bi-Polar Disorder, Marriage, Self-Delusion, Money

Note from Playwright: The play as a whole is really an attempt to depict how close characters come to achieving the goal of the Rilke quote that inspired me:

"Once the realization is accepted that even between the closest human beings infinite distances continue to exist, a wonderful living side by side can grow up, if they succeed in loving the distance between them which makes it possible for each to see the other whole against the sky."
