WHITE (A PARABLE) - Owen

Stevens Point, Wisconsin

MONOLOGUE DESCRIPTION

Time: Contemporary

Situation: Owen, a young gay man has been trapped in an all-white room with a stranger, Joseph; a young cook. They have no clue as to why they have been placed here, no contact with the outside world or anyone except each other. No instructions, no rhyme or rhythm. Only the white, a toilet, a gun with a single bullet. While Joseph sleeps, Owen muses about the implications of their situation, weighing his options as Joseph is defenseless.

Subject Matter: Life, Death, Guns, Mental Health, Trust

Note from Playwright: The play WHITE (A PARABLE)  is an exploration of how a male relationship can progress in the absence of society and the pressures of being observed. It ends as a commentary on the value we place on ourselves and our lives, what will we do when we think no one's watching?

Supplemental Information: The full script of WHITE (A PARABLE)  is available to read at MonologueBank.org.
