TODOS SANTOS - The Angel Gabriel - Raúl

New York City, New York

PLAY DESCRIPTION

It has been twenty years since the Santos family was together, and now they have all converged on East L.A. to honor the tenth anniversary of their Papá’s death in the most irreverent ways possible. Their mother, Dolores, is showing signs of age and dementia, and they all must decide how to handle the situation. Along with discovering that Dolores is not actually their mother, the family comes to realize that the chaos and confusion surrounding them is something they’ve taken great pains to create in order to feel alive.

MONOLOGUE DESCRIPTION

Time: Present

Situation: Raúl discovers the extent of his mother’s dementia when she tries to steal a baby in the grocery store.

Subject Matter: Mexican-Americans, Parents, Dementia, Family Crisis, Sons

Note from Playwright:  I wanted to create the third part of the trilogy I've been writing about the Santos family, so I imagined this as the final chapter of the piece, and I wanted to create closure with the recent death of my own mother.
