Tiara - Bride To Be

Author Kirby Fields
New York, New York

MONOLOGUE DESCRIPTION

Time: Contemporary

Situation: A bride-to-be considers the ways in which she has been conditioned to be little more than an "Mrs." She speaks, in privacy, to her mother on the eve of her wedding.

Subject Matter: Female Objectification, Trophy Wife, Beauty Queen, Mother-Daughter Relationship, Exploitation, Wedding Day Jitters

Note from Playwright: I wrote this piece for an actress who is beautiful. I wanted to use her looks in a subversive way. Acknowledge that, yes, your first impression of me is that I am very pretty; however, you are probably more comfortable with my beauty than I am.
