PLAY DESCRIPTION

THE SHOWER PRINCIPLE  is a one woman led experiment into motherhood. Taking place over the six weeks of her maternity leave from an engineering position at a dental tool company, Liz discusses trials, challenges, shifts, and joys in her new occupation.

MONOLOGUE DESCRIPTION

Time: Contemporary                                

Situation: Liz is in the middle of her six weeks of maternity leave. She is finally getting a shower after who knows how long. As her body begins to luxuriate in the soothing water, she begins to wonder if the only place she can now “think” is in the shower.

Note from Playwright: As a new mother struggling with new requirements and roles, I attempted to explore some of the challenges of creating a new identity around a new person.
