Rita Pomade

Rita Pomade, a native New Yorker, first settled in Mexico before immigrating to Quebec. While living in Mexico, she worked as art editor and contributor to Mexconnect, an e-zine devoted to Mexican life and culture. She still writes the occasional book review for the online magazine. Recently, she’s completed a travel memoir entitled SEEKER: A SEA ODYSSEY, an adventure story about her six-year voyage aboard the Santa Rita, a ketch she and her husband had built in Taiwan. The memoir, published by Guernica Press, is available on Amazon.

Rita is a two-time Moondance International Film Festival Award Winner for a screenplay and a short story deemed film worthy. She’s currently working on JAGUAR, a feature-length thriller set in Mexico. When not working on the film script, she writes poetry, creative nonfiction and flash fiction.

I write because a life’s journey is an accumulation of stories. By putting my stories on paper, I take a distance that helps me give meaning to my experiences. Through writing I clarify who I am and how I feel. It’s a mirror that helps me formulate my values. In the process, I hope what enlightens me can also enlighten others. I’m mainly interested in women’s issues dealing with self-empowerment through growth and awareness.
