Time: Present               

Situation: Living in desperate poverty, Priti's parents agree to adopt their young daughter at the age of 9 to secure a better future. But the promise of a better life in a big city is a lie. The adoption agent is really a human trafficker and Priti's life is shattered. Based on real events, Priti tells the powerful story of how kindness can restore a life that once seemed lost forever.

Note from Playwright: Based on real events, this monologue explores the heroism and resilience of a young woman who escapes a life of forced prostitution. This monologue was first presented for the Missions of Mercy annual fundraiser in Edmonton, Alberta in 2014 and is drawn from the real-life account of a human trafficking survivor in India.
