FINDING FLOYD - Skeets

Author Mark Stein
Washington, DC

MONOLOGUE DESCRIPTION

Time: 1925

Situation: SKEETS, a reporter for a Louisville, KY, newspaper is phoning in a story (not yet knowing it will soon become national front-page news). The year is 1925.

Subject Matter: Fact-based, Lyrical, Journalism, Caves

Note from Playwright: Floyd Collins's quest to find a connection between his small cave and Mammoth Cave resonated with my own (and I believe everyone's) quest to find deeply interior connection with others.

Supplemental Information: Several films and a musical have been written about Floyd Collins. But the best source is the book, Trapped: The Story of Floyd Collins
by Robert K. Murray and Roger W. Brucker.
