GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is MonologueBank?

MonologueBank's intention is to put more new, high caliber work that reflects the full spectrum of humanity into the audition room.  Prospective buyers are able to browse material from the site`s expertly curated collection of monologues sourced from emerging and mid-career writers who come from the nation's best graduate playwriting programs, literary management offices, new play development centers and beyond.

The website features a robust search filter that enables actors to utilize multiple criteria to pinpoint the best pieces for them. Free samples of monologues are provided to help browsers decide whether or not they wish to buy. Buyers can then purchase digital downloads of the material they want. Writers receive 80% of the net proceeds from each download of their work.

How does it help Writers?

For Auditions or Educational Purposes, Writers rarely receive fair compensation for the use of their work (either nothing or a miniscule royalty cut.) MonologueBank insures that Writers receive 80% of the net proceeds from each download of their work (monologues and plays.)

There is no fee to participate, no long term commitment or exclusivity. Writers retain the rights to all their work. For plays that MonologueBank is not licensed to distribute, buyers can link to websites where the material can be found.

How does it help Actors?

MonologueBank helps Actors find what they need in minutes, not hours.

  • A comprehensive search interface lets a buyer drill down to the specific character traits and subject matter they are looking for.
  • MonologueBank offers hidden gems from some known writers and some worthy of further discovery.
  • As MonologueBank's library continues to expand, Actors will always have fresh material from which to choose.
  • Actors can easily connect with Writers, see what inspires their work and access more of it.
  • Actors can save money by buying Bundles.

Can I help other Actors find monologues?

Buyers can buy Gift Cards for Actors they know, as well as for those they don't.

Using social media, site users can also recommend and share good pieces with their theatre colleagues and Actor friends.

Why should I pay for a monologue when I can get them for free?

Getting free monologues can sometimes mean a little more work, and oftentimes Actors find that they still have to spend money on scripts and monologue books if their local libraries and bookstores don't carry material they can use.

MonologueBank's filter helps you:

  • Save time
  • Spend your money with a little more precision
  • Find material that is right for you before you buy
  • Access an ever expanding collection of curated material that reflects the full spectrum of humanity
  • Support your fellow artists. 80% of the net proceeds of each download goes the Writer directly.
